Job summary

Tailor Made are exclusively working for a well-established Waste Management company based in Wakefield. Due to continued expansion our client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their team. You will formulate strategic, short and long-term plans to develop and promote the Company’s products/services as well as formulate strategies and plans to win new clients and customer.

Roles & Responsibilities

The role:

 

  • Responsible for delivering growth in turnover year on year and enhancing the “Quest” brand name
  • The efficient and timely planning of ALL works in conjunction with the Planning Coordinator
  • Attracting and sustaining new business clients, as well as servicing the requirements of the existing customer base through the promotion of the Company’s full range of services
  • Sourcing new business opportunities and driving sales to promote the growth of the company and providing detailed information to the Senior Management Team that may be relevant to potential key accounts
  • Site visits to be carried out minimum 2 times per month with the support of the Commercial Operations Manager / Business Development Manager interfacing to sell drainage solutions that fit customer requirements and deliver the best possible outcomes
  • Ensuring that sales, costing and controlled spending goals are achieved to enable the operating teams to meet customer demand, hit productivity targets and reach expected profit levels
  • Ensuring ALL works undertaken are inputted on Big Change on a timely basis whilst ensuring all works are completed and are in line with Big Change
  • All Sub Contractors must be fully approved by Commercial Operations Manager prior to engagement/ working on site
  • Purchase Orders are received on a timely basis to ensure works can be progressed
  • Delivering and achieving KRA’s and KPI’s
  • Ensuring all contracts, terms and conditions are approved and signed by the Finance Director and signed by all parties and uploaded on to Big Change
  • Identifying and managing personnel development needs
  • Working closely with relevant business partners to implement and drive policies, procedures and business initiatives
  • Plans, schedules, and reviews workload and manpower to make sure targets are being met on a cost-effective basis
  • Carry out regular Toolbox Talks
  • Ensure all site operatives follow the Company’s Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Plan projects and ensure they are programmed to a level of detail necessary for the site team to deliver the scheme and the Finance/Commercial team have all the costings for invoicing without delays
  • Respond to all enquiries at the earliest opportunity and within deadlines.
  • Ensure all Quest employees and subcontractors are compliant with Company policies and procedures
  • Monitoring the performance of the contracts including financial controls while seeking cost reduction opportunities to increase profit through increased efficiency
  • Ensure weekly review of progress, budget resources and forward planning are carried out, and lookahead programmes are in place in conjunction with Commercial Operations Manager
  • Manage and participate in the standby rota
  • Ensure all operatives have the relevant training certifications prior to commencing site operations
  • Maintain and manage sites and subcontractors, ensuring all follow Quest’s procedures and processes

About you:

 

  • Experience as an Operations role as a Manager/Supervisor within Waste Management
  • Extensive Drainage and sewer network knowledge
  • CCTV specific knowledge
  • HPW Jetting and tank cleaning experience
  • Experience of Motorway/Highways Working
  • Drainage industry vehicle understanding
  • Lead by example, set the highest possible standards of leadership in promotion of Health, Safety and Wellbeing
  • All procedures and best practice are in aligned with Company procedures and comply with legal / regulatory obligations
  • All employee training records / certifications have been uploaded onto the Company’s system and are subsequently kept u to date on a timely basis
  • Find practical ways to overcome problems.
  • Take pride in delivering high quality and accurate work
  • Be willing to try out new ways of working
  • Display model behaviour that shows respect, helpfulness and cooperation.
