Job summary

Role: Purchase Ledger Clerk Location: Burnley Salary: up to £23,000 Hours: Monday – Friday General Office Hours Tailor Made Sourcing Ltd are proud to be to recruiting for a leading online retail company based in Burnley. Our client is seeking a Purchase Ledger to join their busy accounts team. The purpose of the role is to support the finance team with the processing of invoice onto sage and the internal system to ensure they are approved daily. You will also be responsible for the reconciling the company Sales Ledger and Credit Card transactions and investigating any discrepancies where transactions are not allocated. The role requires high attention to detail, good knowledge of excel and the ability to navigate multiple new systems. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a supportive and growing company, working Monday to Friday and 32 days annual leave and fantastic bonus’.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Manage the processes for overhead invoices, ensuring these are scanned onto the document management system for approval and posted into Sage 200 on a daily basis
  • Analysing customs invoices for import VAT and duty into excel to aid with European VAT returns
  • Assist the Purchase Ledger Officer with supplier payments
  • Analyse company credit card transactions and ensure they are posted into Sage 200
  • Manage the processes within our internal systems – Solvitt and Sage – this possibly includes processing manual credit notes, transfer sales and credits into Sage daily and importing all sales receipts into Sage
  • Release bank transfer payments as directed and in a timely manner
  • Maintain and reconcile the sales ledger accounts by allocating transactions and investigating those which are not allocated
  • Provide effective support to the Purchase ledger / Payroll Officer and Refunds Officer and cover these roles in their absence where required
  • Support any other finance team members as required and perform any other ad-hoc duties

The ideal candidate will:

  • Proficient in the use of IT software including Excel spreadsheets and emails
  • Good Knowledge of accounting and purchase ledger
  • An understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to analyse and interpret data and information
  • Excellent with technology and able to learn new systems quickly
  • Proactive team player who also works effectively on own initiative
  • Highly organised and efficient
  • IT literate, including competent use of Microsoft Word and Excel (including vlookup and pivot tables)
  • Good attention to detail whilst delivering high quality work
  • Good retention of knowledge
